Independent inspection provides recognition that a Waste Management organisation has met the requirements of PAS402 and verifies the performance data therein.
Accreditation of the Green Compass inspection bodies is undertaken by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), who also accredit the ISO 14001, ISO 9000 certification bodies, EMAS verifiers and acorn inspection bodies in the U.K. This helps to emphasise the credibility of the scheme and provides reassurance to the participants and their customers.
Green Compass inspection bodies operate under a contract with Constructing Excellence in Wales and conduct inspections based on the audit process specified in ISO 19011.
Waste Management organisations that are successful will be issued with a Green Compass certificate and will need to be re-inspected every 12 months in order to maintain a valid certificate. Organisations that are issued with a certificate will be entered onto the Green Compass database.
