Giving Waste Direction

The waste industry is changing. It is no longer focused on filling holes in the ground. The industry has recognised the potential opportunities to be gained from recovering the resource in waste. In fact, waste is beginning to be considered a resource in its own right. In response to this shift Constructing Excellence in Wales together with the industry in Wales has developed a mechanism to enable waste management organisations to demonstrate their performance in an independently verified and comparable manner.

The development process for both PAS 402:2009 and the Green Compass Scheme began very much with the waste industry. We were fortunate to have ten extraordinary waste management organisations who throughout the pilot phase have provided an essential industry perspective and invaluable support.
